Barridas, Paradas & Pathways” Instead of memorizing a sequence, learn to recognize where your partner’s leg is likely to go and how to respond to it. We’ll explore barridas (sweeps) and paradas (stops/blocks), using weight, tracking, connection, and timing to create playful leg interactions and unexpected pathways. WHAT IS BAREFOOT FUSION? Fusion as a style was created by dancers from many different backgrounds creating a common dance language, so that dancers of all different styles and skill levels can share the floor. It’s partnered, improvisational, and dynamic. Come on out and learn with us, and you’ll be able to connect with music in a new way, gain a more complete understanding of your body, and join a worldwide community of partner dancers. Barefoot is a POC & LGBTQIA safer event. This means bigotry of any kind is not tolerated. If you experience or see anything questionable, please let someone on the Portland Blues & Jazz Dance Society team know. Thanks for helping keep our dance a safe and welcoming space for all!
