BALBOA FOR BEGINNERS - 6-WEEK COURSE

Balboa Connection, in association with In Full Swing Leicester, will be running a 6-week series of Balboa classes throughout November and the first two weeks of December. If you’ve ever fancied trying Balboa, this is the perfect opportunity to take your first steps into this beautiful dance with two of the area’s most experienced Balboa teachers. We’ll start with the foundations of Pure Balboa and Balboa-Swing, exploring connection, weight placement, rhythms, shapes and figures that make up the dance. We’ll build things up gradually, giving you time to get comfortable with each new element before moving on. But Balboa isn’t just about learning steps. Alongside the vocabulary and technique, we’ll explore the aspects that give the dance its distinctive feel. Our aim is that you’ll not only learn what to do, but begin to discover how Balboa moves and feels. The classes are designed specifically for beginners, and the teaching material will reflect that, but if you already have some Balboa experience and would like a refresher, you’re very welcome to join us too. The course is progressive, with each week building on the previous week’s material, so we recommend committing to all six classes, or as many as possible. We’ll recap each week, but complete beginners need to attend the first two classes, as these establish the foundations for the rest of the course. Ultimately, our aim is to give you the skills, technique and confidence to get out on the floor and enjoy social dancing Balboa.
