Lindy Hop Classes with Ollie & Helen

Come and learn the world-famous Lindy Hop in a fun and friendly environment – drop in any week, no partner necessary! Every Tuesday in October and November St Francis Centre – Assisi Room Bristol, BS3 2AN 7pm: Foundation – suitable for beginners 8pm: Technique 9pm: Repertoire One class £8 (£6 student/NHS) Two classes £12 (£9 student/NHS) Foundation classes introduce the fundamental skills of footwork and connection, while teaching some fun moves to give you a feel for what the Lindy Hop is all about. They are suitable for everyone – even if you've never danced a step! Each week we teach different moves, and we always begin with the basic skills needed for that class so absolute beginners can start any week. Technique classes are for those who have been taking Foundation classes for a while and are ready to develop their skills, as well as for more experienced dancers who want to practise and refine their fundamentals. A strong understanding of Lindy Hop fundamentals underpins the lead/follow techniques needed to execute more complex moves. Repertoire classes are for dancers who have a good understanding of technique and are looking to broaden their repertoire of moves and variations: to extend the complexity, musicality and expression within their dancing and move towards a more advanced relationship with the music and their partner. We recommend that newer dancers continue with Foundation classes as they develop their Technique. We also strongly advise those attending Repertoire classes to continue to refine and practise their Technique. We offer a discounted price to enable you to do this: Two classes for £12 (£9 student/NHS). No need to book – pay contactless or cash on the door. Anyone can learn whichever lead/follow role they choose, but we suggest that you focus on one role to begin with. You can then explore the other role once you've mastered the basics.
