🎶 West Coast Swing Beginners Friendly Workshop + Evening Social with Dawn Gennery – Sheffield | Saturday 24th October 💃🕺 Join us for a full day of West Coast Swing with special guest Dawn Gennery, right in the heart of Sheffield! 📅 Date: Saturday 24th October 🕐 Workshop: 1:30 – 4:55 pm 🕖 Social: 7:00 – 11:00 pm 📍 Venue: Croft House Community Centre, 9 Garden Street, Sheffield, S1 4BJ ✨ About Dawn Dawn qualified in 2018 through the GPDIA under choreographer Robert Córdoba, and has since done further teacher training with WCS champion Robert Royston. She teaches beginner and intermediate levels and is all about helping dancers build solid technique, musicality and creativity, so you leave feeling confident on the floor. ✨ What to expect A focused three-hour, beginner-friendly workshop with Dawn, followed by a relaxed evening social where you can put it all into practice. Come along, pick up some proper tools to level up your dancing, and have a great time doing it. 🕺 Workshop Schedule 1:15 – 1:30 pm | Doors Open & Welcome Arrive, settle in, meet your partners and get ready for the afternoon. 1:30 – 2:30 pm | Connection & Foundations Build a stronger foundation for your dancing by exploring posture, frame, hand hold, weight changes and footwork, and how it all works together to create a clear, comfortable connection. 2:40 – 3:40 pm | Musicality & Movement Explore how connection and technique give you more freedom to play with the music. We'll look at rhythm, timing, phrasing, pauses and creating contrast in your movement and partner connection. 3:50 – 4:50 pm | Beyond the Basics Challenge your dancing with variations and creative options that build from familiar WCS patterns.
