AUDITIONS - Dangerous Liaisons by The Asylum Players

A new adaptation of the classic French story of sex, secrets and scandal, reset in the present day. A fusion of The White Lotus and Rivals set in the steamy South of France. Performed at The Blue Room, Union Road, Lincoln Thursday 11th - Saturday 13th March 2027, 7.30pm nightly and Thursday 18th - Saturday 20th March 2027 written by Laura Turner & Steve Gillard directed by Steve Gillard These auditions are to be part of the evolving development of a new script from late October 2026 onwards so please only apply if this is something that excites you! Research & Development We want to begin this process with a period of R&D, meaning the script will evolve during the developmental weeks mentioned above. This will take into account your input as actors, as well as external dramaturgy, and take place over a few evenings in late October / early November this year. Script will be finalised and a read through will take place in December 2026. Rehearsals Rehearsals proper will begin start of January 2027, usually 2 week nights plus a Sunday afternoon until show week(s). Characters Because the script is in development, characters may evolve / change / be cut / additional characters added. Ahead of auditions, you will receive all the up to date information on characters and storyline. This form is simply to express your interest in auditioning for show, not a specific character at this stage. But please be aware all roles in the eventual production will be substantial. These are the characters we are currently working with (age brackets are for guidance): Merteuil (F, 40s - 50s) - lead - vain, playful, mercenary Valmont (M, 40s - 50s) - lead - arrogant, charismatic, capacity for cruelty Tourvel (F, late 20s - late 30s) - intelligent, driven, dignified Cecile (F, 20s) - ambitious, excitable, passionate Danceny (M, 20s) - sensitive, artistic, genuine Bastide (M, 40s - 50s) - jaded but magnetic, wealthy If you don't know the story of Dangerous Liaisons, the Glenn Close / John Malkovich film is excellent...as is Cruel Intentions :) Content This show will contain sexual content, and potential nudity, so please only apply if you're comfortable with that! Any role with nudity / intimacy attached will be a paid role. You must be over the age of 18 to audition for this show. Availability / Commitment For show weeks, you need to be available Sunday 7th March (day / early evening) - Saturday 13th March (Monday onwards, evenings only) and Wednesday 17th March - Saturday 20th March (evenings only). Auditions Auditions will be held at The Blue Room the evening of Sunday 4th October, 6pm onwards. If you are not available, there will be a self-tape option, but we would love to see you in-person if possible as the auditions may take a more workshop format.
